What Do You Most Want to Know?

By Christina Ammerman

March 11, 2013

For each week’s issue of Footsteps I connect with my Guidance to hear what it’s time to write about. The responses I get from you tells me that they haven’t steered me wrong yet. Which is why I listened this week when they said it was time to mix things up.

This week we’re doing a Q&A!

The proverbial microphone is open. Please step right up and ask your question about anything you think I might be able to answer.

Spiritual stuff. Otherworldly stuff. “What does Christina think about XYZ?” stuff. “Why do I act like that?” stuff. What do you most want to know right now?

I’ll even do a mini intuitive reading or coaching if that’s what you’re looking for.

So, as I say every week: Your turn. female hand with microphone

What would you like to know?

Post your questions in the comments below; I’ll be making time every day to reply to them right here.

  1. I would like a mini intuitve reading. I would like to know if I’ll be evoking on a new job search soon and can you tell me what it might be. I somewhat know what I desire to do but I am not quite sure how to accomplish it. Any insight would be a blessing. Thank you.

    1. Hi Bonnie! Welcome!
I’m gonna play with wording of your question just a little: Whether you start a new job search is completely your free will. Let me assume that what you really want to know is whether starting a search now is in your best interest. What I actually heard when I first saw your name – before I even read your question – is that yes, there is a new line of work in your future but first there are some things for you to clear out of the way before your search will become fruitful. I hear the words “Get centered within yourself”; with them comes a feeling that you’ve been keeping your focus outward – taking care of other people, catering to what they say they want from you – for a long time now to the point where it has exhausted you emotionally, mentally, and physically. You’ve been doing this as a way to avoid some key emotional and spiritual issues within yourself. That’s OK because the timing hasn’t been right until now – but now IS the right time to turn your focus onto yourself so it’s absolutely perfect that we’re here together.

I know you have a Soul Clarity Session scheduled in a couple days. We’ll be able to dig deeper in that session. BTW, I’ll be emailing you the questionnaire as soon as I’m done replying to comments here.

  2. I was wondering how to tell if an empathic read on a person or situation is legitimate or if it is just your projection on the matter that is making you feel that way. For example, I may think “wow jane is in funky mood today” even though I didn’t even speak to them. I just picked up on it. Is this feeling for real? Sometimes I think that I am just projecting and I should ignore it, but perhaps at times I should trust that the feelings I pick up are real. There have been times before where I know my empathic abilites are for real but I still doubt myself on it. Thanks Chris!

    1. Ooh, I love this question, Susie!

The #1 answer to your question is Practice. You’re asking about how to trust your empathic abilities more, and the best way to get there is to give yourself more chances to prove them right.

One thing I can suggest is to turn practice into a game: When you get to work everyday, before you start talking with people, do a scan of the room and get a reading of how each person is feeling. Then as you interact with them you can see how many of your readings were accurate. When you’re ready for the advanced level, do the scan from your car before you even see who’s there that day. When you can introduce a sense a playfulness to your practice, it can remove the pressure to be right.

The deeper question here might be, Why is Jane’s mood important to you? How do you expect it will affect you? If Jane actually is in a funky mood today, does that change how you’ll treat her? Does that change how you expect she’ll treat you? Do you feel more inclined to protect yourself? If so, that might indicate some unresolved issues you have – for instance, about feeling safe around other people.

  3. I have been struggling with ego and intuition. How do I know if I am hearing what I am hearing is not ego but divine guidance. Thank you for your help.

    1. Hi Kelley!
What a wonderful question. I can feel the eyes of a dozen people waiting to read the answer. Thanks for asking on their behalf. 🙂

When you’re unsure whether you’re hearing an answer correctly, the best thing to do is double-check. Just as you might ask a person, “Did I hear you right?” you can do that with your guidance too.

For someone at an earlier stage of her path, that might mean pulling out a pendulum or deck of oracle cards to get a “second opinion.”

But for you, you’ve moved beyond the need for dowsing tools. The times when you aren’t sure that you’ve heard your guidance correctly are when you’re moving too fast and/or are in your head more than your heart. The key for you is to pause, put your hand on your stomach, take a breath, and ask for clear guidance. YOU know how it feels to be certain of your connection; once you’ve slowed down to establish that connection, you could simply ask, “Did I hear you correctly?” “Was that guidance from you?” or ask your original question again. You are strong enough that even when there are ego issues involved, you can let the guidance through. And you do – TRUST that.

What I feel is that you’re wanting to bring your guidance into the workplace and sometimes you feel rushed. If you need to say “Let me take a second to think about / process that,” your co-workers will give you the space you need to check in with your guidance. This is about bringing all of you wherever you go and standing in that power. Does that make sense?

      Much love,

      1. A big thank you to you. That is exactly the issue. It is the workplace – I get caught up in the doing and rarely get a chance to process/ask guidance. I love it “bringing all of ME wherever I go” Again you are amazing! Much love – Kel

  4. Hi Christina. I am interested in learning how I can connect with my own Guides–those in the spirit world who might be looking out for me –so to speak? I sense they are there-but I am not sure how to know in my bones the message(s) intended for me. Is it simply meditating/being still and then tapping into whatever sense or intuition pops up? How does it work for you? Is it the same for others too? Thanks in advance for your help!

    1. Hi Madeline!

Yes, exactly – being still is what allows us to tap into our intuition and messages from Spirit. Let me say more about that: We do not connect to Spirit through our minds. We cannot connect to Spirit through our minds. The more that we try to think our way to spiritual connection, the more that we actually stir up doubts.

Spiritual connection only happens through your heart. Your mind is the interpreter but not the connection. Your body is the antenna. When you get quiet, even for just a second, what you’re really doing is stopping long enough to notice the signals that are coming from somewhere other than your mind.

How intuition works for me has evolved; now I’m very practiced at it. I used to have to sit down and be very focused on getting quiet. Several years of studying and practicing ThetaHealing helped me get quicker. Now I can tell in the middle of a sentence whether my higher guidance concurs with what I’m saying, because I feel it in my body as I’m speaking. It’s like I very very quickly switch my attention from my words to my feelings and then back to my words again. What’s also important is the quality of that feeling: If I get an icky feeling in my belly, that’s not my guidance – that’s my fears. A “Yes” from my guidance feels happy, and when their answer is “No” I might simply hear the word “No” in my mind or not hear anything at all – a lack of confirmation might mean that they don’t agree with what I’m saying.

One more thought I’m guided to share is about who we’re listening to when we tap into guidance. When I do it I know that the answers might be coming from my Angels or Guides or Ascended Masters or my own Higher Self. Sometimes I can distinguish; other times I can’t. It’s important to say that it doesn’t matter, because all of those are sources of loving guidance and wisdom. The same goes for you, Madeline: You are part of your own guidance team. Your Higher Self guides you along with all of those others who are looking out for you. You’re all on the same team, and you’re all equals. Yes, there is an aspect of you that is as wise and loving as the Angels and Ascended Masters. More than anything, you are invited to spend quiet time sitting with her – inviting a connection to your Higher Self and absorbing her wisdom into your Earthly self.

In the Highest Love and Light,

      1. Madeline asked how intuitive guidance works for other people. Obviously I can’t answer from another person’s perspective. Would anyone like to share?

  5. I would like to know what I could be doing to help those around me and myself with the shifting of consciousness. I’m finding myself getting easily frustrated and more irritable than normal and I’m seeing the same in others around me.

    1. Hi Ashley!

The very first thing that I hear is “Be you.” I sense multiple layers of meaning with that – one of them is to focus on doing your thing and loosen your attachments to how others act.

Something I recently read on Facebook said, “The lighthouse doesn’t run around the island looking for ships to save.” Be the lighthouse, stand in your power, work on yourself, and let the people who are ready for your gifts and guidance come to you.
