Don’t Stop Me If You’ve Heard This Before

By Christina Ammerman

There’s something that I notice when I give messages from higher guidance during healing sessions and Angel Readings:

People seldom seem surprised by the messages they get. In fact, if they’re surprised by anything at all, it’s that the messages weren’t more profound, because they were told something they already knew.

I’ve even seen people “shop around” to different intuitives, searching for someone who’ll tell give them a different message. Those searches will never end, because when you keep asking Spirit the same question, you’re going to keep getting the same answer until you finally listen and put it into action.

This is as true in everyday life as it is in intuitive readings. You get messages every day from your higher guidance – your higher self, your guides and angels, Archangels and Ascended Masters, and God – that answer the important life questions that you’re asking yourself. They only have one job: To guide you, even when that means giving you the same answers over and over again until you you finally listen.

Let’s compare this to what guidance-giving looks like between humans:

Think for a moment about a friend who was going through a tough time and you couldn’t seem to help her. Maybe she was having relationship troubles or not getting along with someone at work and telling you about it over coffee or cocktails. As someone outside her situation, maybe you could see pretty clearly what was really going on and how she could extricate herself from it. You even tried to share your observations because you knew she couldn’t see the forest for the trees.

But she didn’t listen, and the next time that you two got together, she told you the same story all over again about how frustrating and miserable the situation was. Again, you shared your wisdom, encouraging her to see what was clear from your difference perspective. And again she ignored what you were saying.

Eventually, after two or three times of this, you gave up trying to give her any advice and let her choose her misery. (If you’re unusually patient, maybe it was five or six times.) That didn’t mean you stopped loving your friend, just that you didn’t want to talk to a brick wall anymore.

Your higher guidance, on the other hand, has infinite patience. Maybe that comes with living where time doesn’t exist; I think they also have fewer responsibilities than we have. Their one task is to guide you, and they have no limits on the time it takes to do that, so they can wait and repeat themselves as many times as it takes for you to receive the guidance they have to give.

This how they serve you. This is their assignment.

If you keep getting the same message, seeing the same signs, and revisiting the same patterns in your life, it means you’ve been ignoring your higher guidance. The relationship trouble, the money bottleneck, the health problem, the whatever-won’t-go-away-or-change? It’s not a big mystery. You already have the answers at your fingertips, after receiving them in a thousand different ways. You’re just not acting on them.

The big question is Why? How illogical is it to ask for answers and then ignore them when they’re given? Well unfortunately, this avoidance comes from the illogical unconscious mind – the ego, which devises infinite ways to ignore what it doesn’t want to accept. And much of the guidance we’re being given at this moment involves changes that the ego doesn’t want to make. (“Go gluten-free? But I LOVE bread!” That’s mine.)

It is possible, thankfully, to look at why the ego doesn’t want to make those changes, and dissolve that resistance. That’s something I help my clients with every week, so I know that it can be done.

This week’s question for you

After reading this, what messages do you need to acknowledge that Spirit has been sending? What are you finally ready to “get”? This is your chance to declare, in the comments below, one small step that you’re going to take this week to implement the guidance you’ve been given.

  1. I was behind on my reading and started reading the article about what politicians are saying but when I clicked on the button to read more, it brought me here. I didn’t realize i was reading the wrong conclusion until after I finished reading this & I was a little confused how the 2 related. Then I clicked my email to open the next weeks article and it brought me to this again. Thinking the fault was mine (I did eventually find the scroll bar at the top to go to a different article), I closed my whole browser and then tried again but I kept coming back to this article & kept re-reading, “If you keep getting the same message, seeing the same signs, and revisiting the same patterns in your life, it means you’ve been ignoring your higher guidance…After reading this, what messages do you need to acknowledge that Spirit has been sending? What are you finally ready to “get”?” I had to laugh, and say aloud, “alright, I get it, I NEED YOUR HELP! Clearly there is a reason I’ve been quietly keeping tabs on you for the last 4 1/2 years w/out actually seeing you even though the 1 Reiki session i had w/ you was life changing in that, it provided closure for an event that hadn’t even happened yet. So why am I ignoring my higher self? Maybe b/c I feel like I’m the only one that can fix my problems, to do otherwise is an added failure on my part…maybe I was waiting for you to develop you skills more…maybe feeling like a martyr is a misguided attempt at deriving self worth, maybe I’m afraid changing will mean saying goodbye to what makes me unique…maybe I’m terribly frugal when it comes to spending money on my health. I’m ready to accept your help.
