A Prayer of Healing for Election Day

By Christina Ammerman

November 5, 2012

election day, hope, power of prayer, prayer, unity

Less than 24 hours from now the US will pursue a process that is cause for celebration and inspiration: a democratic election.

As others before me have said, it’s a beautiful thing that here in the US, we can essentially overthrow or choose to keep our head of state every four years without one drop of blood being shed. Not everyone in the world has that privilege. Not everyone in the world lives in that safety.

As Election Day approaches, I invite you to approach the day with an air of celebration, gratitude, and ceremony. I also encourage you to hold it in the highest light; it is the day when the healing can begin. I’m sure you have seen what I’ve seen – that not only are the audible voices of this nation dramatically divided, but that negative words are taken and delivered far more personally than ever before.

Thankfully we know that prayer heals, which gives you and me together the power to push this nation forward toward becoming united again. To this end I invite you to take a quiet moment of prayer, meditation, or reflection before the biggest day of voting begins, and join me in these shared intentions:

That Election Day transpires and ends peacefully with harm to none

That the results for every contest be clear and for the Highest Good of All

That each elected official at all levels of government serve all his or her constituents in the highest and best way

That each person know the power of holding Forgiveness his or her heart, willing to forget hurtful words that were said in the heat of debate

That the passion displayed by all during the election season be maintained and channeled into uplifting the United States, its people, and the world around us

That we all come to know on all levels of our being what it truly means to be One Nation, Under God, Indivisible.

We visualize and lovingly com-mand this in co-Creation with The Creator of All That Is.

And so it is.
And so it is.
And so it is.
Amen.
